HAVENS Honored with ITA's "Export Product Carbon Reduction Packaging Design Benchmark"
Achieving Zero-Plastic Transformation, Slashing Carbon by Nearly 70%, and Joining the Automotive Parts Green Supply Chain

HAVENS has long been committed to providing high-quality, highly durable, and high-performance premium components to the global automotive industry. Recently, HAVENS officially and successfully concluded the 2024 "Benchmark Project for Carbon Reduction Packaging Design of Export Products," organized by the International Trade Administration (ITA) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and executed by the Taiwan Design Research Institute (TDRI). During the project's execution period from May to November 2025, HAVENS launched a comprehensive green transformation of its packaging. The company not only achieved the milestone of "zero plastic usage" but also slashed packaging carbon emissions by a staggering 69.50%, demonstrating its commitment to sustainable development through concrete actions.

Overcoming Traditional Packaging Pain Points and Mitigating Export Audit Risks
In the past, HAVENS primarily used Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) as cushioning inserts when exporting precision metal parts. However, as a single-use plastic material, EPS poses significant environmental challenges due to its difficulty in recycling. Furthermore, the high void ratio of traditional packaging not only resulted in poor container loading efficiency and increased the risk of damage during transit, but it also struggled to meet the stringent regulatory requirements for packaging traceability and recyclability in international markets such as Europe and the Americas. This inadvertently heightened the pressure and potential risks of export audits.
Innovative Low-Carbon Design: Precise Protection with A-Flute Cardboard and Enhanced Logistics Efficiency through Modularization
To break through this bottleneck, the HAVENS R&D team introduced innovative thinking during this benchmark project, executing a comprehensive optimization of their packaging:
Single Material and Zero-Plastic Protection: The original EPS inserts were completely phased out and replaced with single-material "A-flute corrugated cardboard." Through an ingenious folded-board structural design, heavy product components are accurately positioned, successfully reducing the packaging void ratio to under 10%. This not only enhances transport stability but also strengthens product protection.
Modular Design and Digital Traceability: A modular design was fully implemented for the outer cartons, along with standardized pallet sizes to maximize loading efficiency. Concurrently, the printing area on the outer cartons was intentionally minimized to lower carbon emissions. Recycling symbols and a "Carbon Footprint QR Code" were added to the sides, significantly bolstering the packaging's traceability and compliance transparency.

Outstanding Carbon Reduction Benefits and Comprehensive Enhancement of International Export Competitiveness
The results of this project are remarkable. Data shows that the average carbon emissions of HAVENS' product packaging drastically dropped from 1.54 kg CO2e to 0.47 kg CO2e—a massive reduction of 69.50%—while completely eliminating the use of plastic packaging materials.
This brand-new packaging design fully complies with the latest international recycling and environmental regulations, effectively mitigating export risks and significantly enhancing HAVENS' audit readiness when dealing with international automakers and clients. Looking ahead, HAVENS will continue to uphold its original mission of providing exceptional automotive components while deeply embedding green and eco-friendly thinking into its corporate operations, working hand-in-hand with global supply chain partners toward a sustainable, net-zero carbon future.
