Pitman Arm Manufacturer - HAVENS

Pitman Arm

The pitman arm converts rotary motion from the steering gearbox into linear motion, steering the wheels effectively. HAVENS is a custom pitman arm manufacturer. Our car parts are engineered for heavy-duty and high-performance applications.

The Pitman arm is a crucial component in a vehicle’s steering system, especially in vehicles equipped with recirculating ball steering gear. It connects the steering gear to the steering linkage, converting the rotational motion from the steering gear into the linear motion needed to turn the wheels.

  • Connects the steering gear to the center/drag link
  • Converts rotational movement from the steering gearbox into linear movement
  • Transmits steering input to the steering linkage to control the direction of the wheels
  • Essential for accurate steering response and vehicle handling

Pitman arms connect the steering gearbox to the steering linkage, converting steering wheel rotation into wheel movement. Here are the main types:

Standard Pitman Arm
  • Most common type.
  • Directly links the steering gearbox to the center/drag link.
  • Found in most trucks and older vehicles.

Drop Pitman Arm
  • Has a downward bend to correct steering angles.
  • Used in lifted vehicles to reduce bump steer.
  • Helps restore proper steering geometry.

Double Pitman Arm
  • Features two arms for dual steering systems.
  • Common in heavy-duty trucks or specialized vehicles.
  • Distributes steering force more evenly.

Offset Pitman Arm
  • Has a sideways offset to change steering geometry.
  • Used in custom setups to improve handling or alignment.

Pitman & Idler Arm Combo
  • Works together with the idler arm for balance and stability.
  • Common in center-link steering systems.
